This reminds me of a situation I was in a while back in a college (honors level) class where a non-traditional student that was probably 40 was saying some sexist shit in a class discussion. I could tell it was bothering people, and it sure as hell was bothering me, but it took me most [...]

I haven’t seen the film yet, I will eventually probably watch it when it’s on netflix or something. Anyway, I’m tired of people on facebook and the like saying, “YOU’RE A BUNCH OF HYPOCRITES YOU’D FREAK IF YOUR BFS WENT TO SEE A STRIPPER MOVIE STARRING FEMALES.” Um…. no? Most of us wouldn’t? I like [...]

Oh also, my bff as a very young child was told by her parents that they didn’t approve of her dating/marrying a black guy when she was older.
This confused her a lot when her much older brother married a black woman, and they didn’t tell her their newly corrected views. -

I was the same way as a child. My father wouldn’t consider himself racist if you asked him (like many men his age), but he is. He probably said 4-5 things that were so blatantly racist during my childhood that it shocked me even then. I still remember the instances today. Kids remember those things, [...]

Yeah, I totally felt for Peggy with her mom. It scared me, because I know that’s how my parents would react as well. It’s hard when you know what’s right for you, but the approval isn’t going to be there. Do you do what’s best for you, or what makes them happy? I hope her [...]

I’m not a mother, but I agree with what you say. I feel like nothing better has happened for the people who make baby stuff than sonograms being able to tell what sex these future babies are. Before that you bought some clothes and the baby wore it no matter what genitals it had, and [...]

Ha. When I first heard this, I just thought of this country song I grew up with, “She Don’t Know She’s Beautiful.” Sounds like a rip off to me!!! <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upTWgf-3IqQ" (No reason to be embarrassed by liking tween pop, 70s, 80s, 90s country is my guilty pleasure.) Anyway, I don’t think “What Makes You [...]

Adrienne commented on the blog post Hilary Rosen, Ann Romney, and what the “stay at home” mom conversation overlooks 1 year, 2 months ago · View
My mother had her own business and worked from home. Her dream was to be able to do this so she could spend time with her kids while they were growing up. It’s an admirable dream, but the only reason this was financially possible (because her business wasn’t enough to support solely) was because of [...]

“The Georgia “fetal pain” bill also stipulates that the abortion must be performed in such a way that the fetus emerges alive.”
Wait… what? I’m so confused. Why would they want that? -

I agree with this so much. I try to explain some of this to (white) people sometimes but most just don’t get it.

See, that’s something Romney and Santorum don’t get. They can afford to be opposed to birth control, because they can afford all of their damn kids.
Planned Parenthood is amazing, hope they can help you out!

Agree with Andrew, thanks for sharing! So many people paint universal healthcare as a bad thing here, but does anyone really complain over there? Also, nice to hear of your choice, Andrew. It just makes so much sense! Inducing unwanted pregnancies should worry every man like their partner, but unfortunately not always so. I am [...]

And of course, if they promoted what it means to be a good father, it would suck. It would require marriage and traditional roles.

If they want to promote fatherhood, shouldn’t they focus on the men? Like promoting what it means to be a good father?
Of course if we were to promote this, it would be awesome. -

Adrienne commented on the blog post Santorum worries that female soldiers can’t hack it on the front lines because of all the “emotions” 1 year, 4 months ago · View
What a ass this man is. Let’s not let the people who want to fight do it, let’s bribe the illegal immigrants do it instead. Or, let’s not forget that the staggering suicide rates are occurring with male soldiers too, proving that everyone has emotions. Or that women in the military are more likely to [...]
