Poverty and sexuality… links explained

A new report by SIDA (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency) explores the strong links between poverty and sexuality.

It shows what some would call the bleeding obvious: that a denial of sexual rights can lead to poverty. In turn this vulnerability is further entrenched by links between poverty, sexual abuse and stigma.

It argues that development models are predominantly hetero-normative and that these approaches need to be addressed to achieve realization of sexual rights.
