Summer’s Eve…..All I Can Say is WOW!

Well, I remember being here on Feministing a couple days ago to find a talking vagina telling me how I need to be douching and showing my vagina a little love. Well besides getting over the creepiness of a talking vagina, I don’t think I need Summer’s Eve to show my vagina some love. I think we have a very close relationship. Now if you’re wondering what commercial I’m talking about, just click here.

Now I’m not really fully against Summer’s Eve because they are using shame to get women to douche but that they are passing off douching as something healthy and normal. Now in case of you who don’t understand the risk of douching, I will show the side effects that I had received from Women’s Health:

Rape Jokes and Slut-Shaming on Facebook

So recently I was bored and decided to go on Facebook to just let time slide by. Now if you’re like me on Facebook, you just start going on a Like spree and you start adding a bunch of random pages and groups just because you’re bored and a Facebook group had a witty little title that made you giggle so you choose to like it. Well I noticed a page called Sexual Assault is Not A Punchline and I decided to join because well, it’s true. Sexual assault isn’t a joke and the one that that strikes a nerve in me is when people think that it’s a joke. So I join and I decide to go ...

The Biggest Crime a Woman Can Make in Society

Okay so I recently read The Scarlet Letter, which we all have heard of or at least read in a English high school or college class or like me, did it on our own free time. I’ve finally picked up the book one day and felt like I should just sit down and finally read it since it’s considered such a good book in our culture. So finally after reading this, I started to wonder if the plot of this story is dangerously similar to today’s society when it comes to sexuality and immorality.

Now we all know the plot of the The Scarlet Letter (even if you never even picked up the book, you’ve probably heard about the plot before). We ...

Yoplait Commercials

So when I read on Feministing a few days ago that Yoplait was being pulled off the air, I couldn’t help but be very relieved. Now we’ve all seen the Yoplait commercials where it pretty much advertises women as being very critical about their weight and what they put in their body. Now if you had clicked the Yoplait link, you could see the advertisement that you may still see on TV but, it will be pulled very soon.

My issue with this advertisements is that it’s very problematic for women. It would be one thing if they were advertising good health and living a healthier life but here’s the problem, THE WOMEN IN THESE COMMERCIALS SEEM PERFECTLY FINE!!! It’s ...

My Take on Dark Skinned Women in the Black Community

After reading the post “Mommy, I Want To Be White,” a couple days ago right here on Feministing, it brought me to tears. Now it doesn’t take much for me to get emotional, but what made this post hit me so hard is that I don’t really get emotional towards something I can’t relate too. I say this because I can never feel the pain a dark skinned woman feels when it comes to how she’s seen in this society. I would say I fit more towards the “beauty” standard in this society due to my light skin and hazel eyes, and even though I’ve heard a lot of stories on how dark women are treated in this society, ...
