Dark and Stormy Night as House Passes HR358

Every week we ask you, our EMILY’s List community, to help support our efforts and what happened on the floor of Congress yesterday is the reason why. I sat in my office watching CSPAN long after the sun had set and Washington DC came under the threat of a tornado watch. I watched as Republicans like Steve King, Daniel Webster, and Charlie Bass once again chose the War on Women instead of a War on Unemployment. But something else happened that you should be incredibly proud of — as each right-wing Republican stood to push their political agenda, there was an EMILY’s List pro-choice Democratic woman there to defend our privacy, our health, and our rights. And they are there because you helped elect them.

Last night this atrocious bill passed, but not without the fierce opposition of our pro-choice, Democratic women in the House. Watch them below and join us in working hard to elect more of them to Congress and the U.S. Senate in 2012!

Leader Nancy Pelosi
Rep. Gwen Moore
Rep. Tammy Baldwin
Rep. Jackie Speier
Rep. Judy Chu
Rep. Diana DeGette

And you can find more of them here.
