Is it uncouth to “out” a rapist?

I feel so upset, disgusted, sad, etc. I just found out that an ex-boyfriend of mine has been getting women drunk and then raping them. He recently reconnected with me via facebook (we hadn’t spoken since we dated when I was 19 and he was 22; I am now 23 and he is 27).

We had been messaging back and forth and it seemed to be going quite well. He apologized for being such an asshole to me when we were dating. Restraining Orders inquiry

Hello! I don’t know if this is appropriate to do this via the feministing community website, but I’m running out of options (and time). I’m doing research for my thesis and I was wondering if I could possibly email interview those who have obtained restraining orders in domestic violence situations. My research asks the question: How are restraining orders limiting and/or beneficial to women’s physical safety?

Any help/advice/resources would be great!

Protest James Dobson in Chicago

The Museum of Broadcast Communications has announced it will induct right wing extremist, and Prop 8 developer, James Dobson into its Radio Hall of Fame. Dobson runs a so-called “ex-gay” program and has said that allowing gay people to marry will “destroy the earth.” In the past two years, at least seven researchers in three countries have accused Dobson of distorting their research to back his anti-gay teachings.

Unless the Museum reverses its outrageous and offensive decision to honor this dishonest demagogue, Truth Wins Out will join the Gay Liberation Network and a coalition of Chicago organizations to protest the annual Radio Hall of Fame awards dinner.

Jessie Spano ruined feminism

Lately, I’ve been thinking about writing a feminist deconstruction of the hit ’90s show, “Saved By The Bell.” I remember watching this show as a ten-year-old and feeling so annoyed with the character, Jessie Spano. I remember thinking to myself, “God, I never want to be a feminist!” She made it seem so whiney (plus I was ten at the time). Of course, I now know that her character was obviously developed by a man who knew little about feminism. I feel like other young women (and men) must have felt annoyed with Jessie’s character as well. Easy Curves… wtf?

Okay, so I’m up late right now watching whatever is on TV and this ad for something called, Easy Curves, comes on. It promises to, “lift, firm, and enlarge” your breasts. It says you can increase your bust from 36.4 inches to 37.2 inches. The graphic for this is just laughable. I’m pretty sickened by it. Has anyone else seen this ad?
