who are the real terrorists?

I originally posted this on my blog but i felt it was worth sharing here, hopefully to get more insight or spark more discussion around this issue.

Since 9/11 there has been a lot of focus on “terrorists” (as we all know so very well).  Discussions around terrorism (specifically domestic terrorism) has increased lately and now there are bills (i believe more than one) to ban the practicing of parts of Sharia Law (which I wrote about here) and now I’ve read that there will be hearings by Homeland Security about the radicalization of Muslims.

When asked why he is singling out the Muslim American community and refusing to investigate other forms of terrorism, King has responded by saying that “it makes no sense to talk about other types of extremism, when the main threat to the United States today is talking about al Qaida.”

Choice means more than Abortion

For two more hours it is the anniversary of Roe v. Wade. It’s also blog for choice day. From what I’ve seen the majority of blogging has been around abortion, and since I have done that already (here), I decided to take it a different route, because I think CHOICE encompasses a lot more than just abortion, and i think those of us who are pro choice should widen the scope a little.

Yes, I am for a woman having the right to choose to have an abortion. But there are many choices a woman should be free to make before it even gets that far.  And I don’t believe that is currently the case. A woman should know ...

What’s Trey Songz really up to?

I have been hearing the song “bottoms up” on my way to and from work every day for the last… 4 days. And I only have it on a station that plays mainland music when Island 98.5 is on commercial. Admittedly, it’s better than “toot it and boot it” but that isn’t saying very much.  This song is hot right now. Example:  I went to look up the lyrics on The Google… All i typed in was “lyrics” and “lyrics to bottoms up” appeared on the drop down menu. Of course I have my feminist lens on everywhere I go (blessing and a curse) and listening to this song has me ...

Twitter Hastags & Trends

Random question before i get started: is there a way to link my blog with the feministing community blog? I’m new to this whole blogging thing….

So the actual blog can be found here, and so far that’s my first post but there will be more to come. So here it is…

Ok, so admittedly I am relatively new to the whole twitter scene.  I started using it at the beginning of summer, but it’s easy to catch on quickly.  So i get that most people use it to say what they’re doing from day to day, where they’re at, who they’re with (great for stalkers, btw). Some people use it to put up pictures or ...

BlogRant: ABORTION

*disclaimer: i realize the points i make are highly subjective, are not intended to be blanket statements or to appear as if I have some final authority on the subject. I do have a particular take and first hand experience and feel passionately. I understand others may disagree.

I’m really sick of people debating whether or not abortion is emotionally traumatic in an effort to legitimize or delegitimize the practice. First of all, let’s face it, it’s going to be different for different people. Circumstances will vary, emotional levels of individuals vary, etc. On the one hand we have people saying its not emotionally traumatic unless a woman is forced against her will to an abortion, regrets it later (which “doesn’t” happen “very ...
