Oh, I *love* the faked-up screenshot at 1:20 of the Ms. PacMan video where the pretzel gives "EQUAL PAY".

I *love* the faked-up screenshot at 1:20 of the Ms. PacMan video, where the pretzel gives you "EQUAL PAY".

That Ms. Pac-Man video was the most awesome thing I've seen in days, possibly weeks. I was grinning so hard I practically had tears coming out of my eyes!

SHE KEEPS HER OWN NAME MOTHERF*ERS!

That made my day.

I was struck by the Huang piece, and the first paragraph seemed especially ironic. And, perhaps, serves as an indicatino of a near-uncrossable gap in viewpoints. She says:

The anti-immigrant movement has carefully maintained that it is only opposed to "illegal" immigration, and welcomes immigrants who "follow the rules" and enter the country legally (even though half of all undocumented immigrants actually entered the U.S. through legal channels). Many pundits and presidential candidates similarly embrace this rhetoric. But ...their assertions are in fact disingenuous.

Disingenuous?

Well, I'd say that the article is pretty damn disingenuous, seeing as it deliberately and inaccurately conflates "following the rules" with "following the rules, at least at the instant when you crossed the border." There's nothing else that the "even though" can imply.

Are those the same thing? Um, no. Not unless you equate "give someone temporary permission t do ___" and "give someone the right to do ___ as long as they want."

There are a lot of good points to talk about in the immigration debate. Deliberately mischaracterizing your opponents' arguments is a poor way to start. She lost my trust at Paragraph 1.

Eliot Spitzer thought nixing flex scheduling in NY would be a good idea, for about 5 seconds. However, there's an alternative motive to flex schedules for government workers -- Traffic patterns in Albany.

Thanks for the links! At RHrealityCheck I also saw this:

What part of "Catholic School" don't you understand?

How do those Catholics who canned the unmarried pregnant schoolteacher know that it wasn't an immaculate conception?
