Bush axes family planning funds

I know we're all focused on Clinton v. Obama today, but Planned Parenthood has a reminder that either of these candidates would be a major step up from the asshole that currently occupies the Oval Office.

Bush's proposed 2009 budget cuts Medicaid funding for family planning by $570 million in the coming fiscal year, and by $3.3 billion over five years. Says Planned Parenthood:

This would have a devastating effect on the millions of low-income women who rely on Medicaid for contraception and other preventive family planning services. The president's drastic proposal would do nothing more than increase the number of unintended pregnancies and the rate of sexually transmitted infections, including HIV/AIDS.

He also wants to keep Title X funding stagnant, and cut USAID international family planning funds by $94 million. January 20, 2009 can't get here fast enough.

How much money is earmarked for his goddamn war? I don't even know what to respond with...I'd say that's just fucking unbelievable, but it's not. For Bush, that's about par.

I need to go punch something.

I shouldn't be so surprised. There aren't enough words to describe my rancor towards this "man". I have a feeling that there will be more little nuggets like this one throughout the year as everyone is focused on the election. If there is any justice in the universe, he will be reborn as...I can't think of anything horrible enough.

Not to be an asshole--these moral hypocrites, idiots, lunatics all but make me foam at the mouth--but can "low-income" women universally not afford condoms?

"The president's drastic proposal would do nothing more than increase the number of unintended pregnancies and the rate of sexually transmitted infections, including HIV/AIDS."

People won't use condoms unless they're covered under Medicaid? Aren't they cheaper than the Pill, IUD's, etc.?

If there is any justice in the universe, he will be reborn as...I can't think of anything horrible enough."

We can start with his rebirth as someone with half a conscience or brain, who thus must look at all his idiocy--religious lunacy, fabricated war, oil shilling in the age of terror/global warming, ALL of it--he has had a role in.

And then he'd be ready to eat shit and die with self-hatred,grief,and long overdue remorse...too late.

Lucky for him, he and the assholes in power cut of the same cloth will dump their mess in others' laps and spend the rest of THEIR lives in relative peace.

I can - and if there is any irony in the world he will be reborn as a WOMAN who relies on medicaid for birth control. Then and only then will he truly be able to understand what an ass hole he really is.

That too ;). He can start as that, and the female soldier...one of the soldiers sexually assaulted and then punished for speaking up, to say nothing of risking your life for a BS war

According to the clock on my Facebook profile...349 days, 6 hours, and 47 minutes to go.

And by the by, I'm a Clinton supporter, but I definitely agree that either would be a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE step up from the current asshat-in-chief. I don't dislike Obama, anyway.
