Yup, giggles. Though I hear tell Simpsons also dissed my man DK. Sadly, I no longer have teebee and rely on YouTube...
lol! I just watched this episode online today, (Via fox.com) that's really weird. 0.o;;
NTodd: They dissed Hillary too.
While TV news is horrible, the whole "new media" thing is really overblown. For every good blog there are 10 terrible ones.
Also, print media is probably the best news you can get.
@A_Human
You are absolutely correct about print media.
Neil Postman wrote an amazing book called Amusing Ourselves to Death where he talked about how awesome tv is for entertainment but how terrible it is for actual serious news. It forces news to become entertainment rather than informational. The book was written in 1985 and is still relevant. If you're interested at all in the media, give the book a read.
Blogs are pretty cool, but they don't give you general news like the papers do. I can tell you all about Walmart and its girls underpants and Hillary tearing up, but honestly, I have no clue whats goin on in the Iraq war right now, or even about the presidential candidates too much. Because I don't read the papers and just spend time on Feministing. Blogs by themselves are not sufficient news.
I should follow my own advice...
Hypocritically yours,
Gretchen

Sweeet! They diss the Hobbit and the Chick! Well, I guess I have to laugh because of that episode when Bill Clinton gave Lisa the trophy after she complained about the band contest at the fair. They are equal opportunity offenders, but during the primaries? Bah.

No. No it's not. Pro journos all suck, even if they pretend to cling to some "ethic" that blogs have discarded. Blogs aren't the magic wand, but Old Media is anachronistic and full of whiners who can't figure out how to adapt. No, I'm totally serious.
That was the best 15 seconds of my day. Thank you, Jessica. And Nelson.

What's especially annoying is the way some people claim blogs are a form of journalism akin to newspapers and TV news shows, instead of realizing the format includes a whole bunch of blogs that don't even try to be journalism.

Don't forget radio journalism! I love NPR's willingness to devote whole hours of programming to a single issue.
And I truly believe there's nothing quite like the human voice to get us to pay attention. Though maybe that's just cause I was read to a lot as a child . . . ;)
@annajcook
yes!! i've become addicted to NPR over the past couple years, and will stream it from the computer in my room as I get ready every morning. i think it makes my roommate thing i'm a snob or something, and that only adds to the pleasure of listening ;)
Oh...I missed the new episode...I hope the boy can get it at his folks' house on the digital or whatever. :(
Thought you all might appreciate today's MTTS comic: Young lady, can you find another place to have bad self esteem?
Personally, I get my news from wire services (yahoo news) and Pacifica radio.
