Medal of Freedom awarded for curtailing reproductive freedom

To piggyback on Vanessa's post about Medicaid funding for family planning...

This week Bush awarded retired Rep. Henry Hyde with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Because nothing says "freedom" like severely curtailing the reproductive rights of low-income women.

Disgusting.

If there was a God...one who cared about women...s/he would either snap his/her fingers to ensure children were only born to people who were financially and emotionally prepared to take care of them...and short of that he wouldn't f*cking reward morally vacuousness, unspeakably vile f*ckfaces like Bush and some of the raving, frothing-at-the-mouth batshit backwater fools in the G.O.P.

The moral hypocrisy of these people--shitting on S-Chip and cutting funding to similar programs one day, calling BIRTH CONTROL murder the next (how many "average voters," how many of the people who elected him and would elect fucking Romney, are listening?! Do they care?!) and then talking about the American crusade to uplift women in Afghanistan and Iraq (dropped the ball in the first...never even tried to conceal what was really going on---fabricated war of fatally incompetent sociopaths---in the second)....incredible.

Fucking hell. That's really, really gross.

Didn't Tom Lehrer once say that political satire was obsolete once they gave the Nobel Peace Prize to Henry Kissinger?

You don't even need to satirize this. It does it all by itself.

What a waste. Looking at the other people who received the award, I would be insulted to include him in my number. And what does freedom have to do with it?
"The 83-year-old conservative lawmaker formerly from Wood Dale is nationally known for his role in the impeachment of President Bill Clinton and his opposition to abortion." - because those are two things to be incredibly proud of and rewarded for.

Unbelieveable.

Henry Hyde will now be getting another award tommorrow: Asshole of the Week.

I read things like this and think "wow, there is a God, and damn does she have a dark sense of humor."

When I saw that, I started wondering if anybody else was on the list who was going to refuse the award on principle. I don't know if I would...I'm just wondering.

ABSURD. And ironic, as there is currently a petition being circulated about repealing Henry Hyde's lovely legacy, the Hyde amendment, which prevents low-income women from accessing abortions.

You can sign the petition here: http://www.hyde30years.nnaf.org/petition.html.

You've got to be kidding me!
