Monday Monty blogging

montyblogging.jpg

Things I now know about Monty:

He gets a second wind around midnight and wants to play with (destroy) any magazines, Sudoku booklets or mail within reach.

He is a hoarder. If it's on the floor, it will soon be dragged into Monty's crate for safekeeping. This includes toys, shoes, umbrellas and sweatshirts.

He is not a fan of walks. Why go anywhere when you can just poop inside?

Also, faces are for eating (as evidenced after the jump).

Aaaww, is there anything sweeter than a new puppy? He's adorable.

Ahh, a new puppy! Is he your first? He's adorable! He's also going to be big--look at his feet! And yes, faces are always for eating with puppies, but somehow the little pin-prickly feeling of their teeth just doesn't hurt that much when they look that cute.

I now have an alarming urge to hug my dog and look at puppy photos. :)

haha, my dog is 10 months old now (had her since she was 7 weeks) and a lot of that still applies...she's still into playing with/destroying paper products...but at least the house training has gotten better...good luck being a new puppy mommy!

My Aussie Jessie is now 8 years old. She is the sweetest dog, but I miss the puppy stage (except the housetraining). Enjoy it while you can!

Wow! Did he grow over the weekend? He looks much bigger than the pictures of him Friday!

I'm lovin' this. I got my puppy Shelby about 3 months ago and when I got her I wanted to use all of my "professional blogging" time to write about every little thing she did. I wrote a blog post about the feminist approach to having children just so I could use a picture of her as "my version of a baby." I'm so happy to see you shamelessly using Feministing to showcase you new bundle of joy.

I love pets! I do not have a puppy yet (not allowed at the apt) but i do have a gorgeous black bunny rabbit who has the personality of something between a dog and a cat. She, too, loves to chew anything paper, food-like, or wires (the wire-chewing is scary - i've learned how to keep them from her though). She used to hoard random items and drag them into the closet - no idea why. But her 'winds' are 6am and 9pm. She wakes me up every morning at 6 for food and attention. Annoying, but forgivable because oh-so-cute!

Aww--he is an adorable dog. I wish I could have one at my dorm. My ex-boyfriend's Rottweiler used to lick me so much she was practically French-kissing me. Odd, but cute, in a puppy.

My dog is a hoarder too. But he only hoards his things, not ours. He takes them from the basket in the bedroom where we store his toys and he puts them in his crate so he can guard them from the cats, who could care less about his toys.

You know he's allowed on the subway, right? He's small enough. Pets that can fit into airline cabin carriers are allowed on the subways here in NY. So... when he's old enough to go to the dog park, you can take him to any dog park in the city.

The nose! Aww.

One of my dogs is a redecorator. When she gets loose in the house while we are away, rather than destroy things, she goes from room to room picking one pillow or one blanket from each. She then drags them to the living room and neatly lays them out on the floor. It's ridiculous! She always seems so proud too!

I just got a puppy too, named Mario. :) He's a black lab and just turned 11 weeks old...I'm also feeling your pain/"oh-you're-so-cute-you-can-do-anything"ness. :)

Hi, long time dog owner/lover and dog blogger/writer here. How big is his crate? If he is stuffing it full of stuff, it might be that he feels lost in a to large crate.
To get him to stop chewing and stealing stuff get bitter apple, or some other 'anti-thumb sucking' stuff to put on what he takes. Does he have trouble with the stairs? How are you treating the walks, do you walk and then turn around once he poos, or do you continue the walk a tiny bit further so he gets rewarded for pooing with a longer walk.

Want... aussie... shepherd... >

my "puppy", an eight year old toy fox terrier, is a major hoarder.
downside: if i'm not carefull i wind up with one pair on underwear by months end. upside: i'm less of a slob. underwear goes in the laundry basket.

Thanks. I really needed the laugh. Seriously.

I am feelin' the Monty love. He is killin' me! I snorgled a puppy Aussie the other week in the park (name? Boomer!!). They are toooooooo cute and totally energetic.

Also, I love your parquet floor!

Hey -- Monty looks like a little guy we see downstairs in our building?

Maybe we'll post our not-so-little Anti-Monty. (Shaka).

He's South African, poops in a box, never goes out (way too scared), is the size of a bobcat, and loves to cuddle (well -- that may not be so different). He's also middle-aged and very lazy and round.
