Jen wins for best Feministing quote

Our very own Jen definitely deserves a prize for her fantastic quote in Lakshmi Chaudhry's article, "What Women See When They See Hillary."

As women sign up to work with anyone but Senator Clinton, of course, they're being asked why. That's the bad news. The good news is they're all giving the same answer. Being a woman does not get you the automatic support of women. There's no vagina litmus test, people.

I wonder what a vagina litmus test would look like.

Whatever it is, I'm sure there are a few fetish sites devoted to it.

If there is a vagina litmus test, I wonder how someone becomes qualified to administer it.

Just joking.

If a women might have a vaginal infection, ph is one of a few data points we learn to use in med school to distinguish which one and what treatment should follow.

That said, maybe nobody else will say something so ridiculously boring as what I just said, and we can all just giggle at Jen's amazing quote :)

That was a great article.

Though I have to take issue with the idea that liberals are giving Edwards a "pass" on his war vote, and giving HRC hell as if they've done the same thing. Edwards constantly admits to his war vote, apologizes for it and takes responsibility for his role in the war. HRC likes to avoid the question, says that she didn't do anything wrong, even though I (not a U.S. Senator, not as highly educated) could tell that there were no WMDs, and calls it "George Bush's war." I don't think that it's the vote people react to, but the handling of the vote. But hey, that's just me. Not trying to start a flame war!

I'm so disappointed! I was going to make a comment about literal litmus tests & vaginas, & sunflwrmoonbeam & Garrett_Sparks beat me to it.
This is bringing back memories of 7th grade science when we put lemon juice & bleach on litmus paper.

I agree with you, Cara. I just wish that HRC would apologize. I mean, I'm an underemployed 20something & I could tell that there were no WMD's.
Well, that & she's not left enough for me. My heart lies with Kucinich but I know he'll be president when pigs fly.

Maybe I'm niave but I always wondered if Hillary apologized for the vote if the media would let it slide or if they would pound her as a flip flopper.

Honestly I'm still hoping Gore will run but if Hillary does get the nomination and with the current crop of republican canidates, I would have no problem voting for her over any of them.

Still I would take HRC over ghouly Fred Thompson, lost to reality McCain, Varmint shooting Romney, or criminal appointing Ruddy.

"If there is a vagina litmus test, I wonder how someone becomes qualified to administer it?"

What do you want to bet some white, conservative Christian men would try to regulate who is qualified?

It seems Simone de Beauvior was right.

I don't support Clinton for president, and I always get "but she's a woman!" from friends and family. It is obnoxious that she is seen more for her gender than for any of her political opinions and positions, and I wish we were at a point where we could look past gender as irrelevant in these sorts of situations.

I don't support Clinton for president, but I find myself second-guessing that whenever someone attacks her for stupid or unfair things. (Like using her birth name or not).

Ultimately, what I really don't like is that she's the only female candidate running.
