Send me some good vibes

I'm going to be on The Colbert Report tonight. I am freaking out a bit. So send good vibes my way between 6 and 7pm tonight--that's when we'll be taping.

And if anyone is in the NYC area tomorrow, I'm doing a reading with a couple of other authors from Seal Press...

Good luck! I'll have to remember to tune in!

[Also, I hope that some moderaters will be available tonight after it airs. As with any kind of mainstream promotion, it will probably attract a decent number of trolls.]

GOOD LUCK JESSICA!

One thing is that it's hard to expect what he'll say, but if you kick it Jane Fonda style (perhaps you should sit on his lap, you knoe, make it a feminist tradition?), and come in outside of his game, you can end up making an outstanding performance. All my energy will be on you.

And like Cara said, we may need some moderation tonight. Not all Cobert fans are as intelligent as we Feministing girls. ;)

[WHO PUT THE 'E' NEXT TO THE 'W'?]

Best of luck!

good luck!!

try not to stare at his weird ear...

Good Luck! I'm sure you'll do great!

Bring a teddy bear!

I thought it was supposed to be last night, so I was really disappointed when I didn't see it come on. I'm so happy to hear I was wrong!

Good luck! I'll be watching with my partner-in-crime, Gili, who I believe has been contacting you about the beginnings of our Boston University Feminist magazine.

You'll be awesome. We all know Colbert's a feminist deep down. :-)

SO exciting! Best of luck; you'll kick ass!!

Good luck Jessica! Definitely sending good vibes your way. Also, this may just be me being dense, but is the airing date tonight as well?

You'll completely kick ass tonight, no doubt, so not much luck needed, but here's a little good luck for you anyway.

P.S. I *heart* Stephen Colbert.

awesome! looking forward to seeing it!!!!

I am sure that you'll be fab!

Tips
1) Don't mention your love of bears, Willie Nelson or Peach Cobbler
2) If the interview starts going badly, sit on his lap and seduce him (See Jane Fonda Interview)

Whatever you do, do NOT try and engage his fake arguments seriously. Anyone who has tried to do that winds up looking very silly.

It's fun. Remember that and you'll be fine.

Good luck, Jessica! I just finished the book last night (I bought it Thursday and couldn't put it down!) and it kicks much ass. I'm confident that you will do the same.

good luck!
I love the Colbert Report!
I actually just finished watching last nights episode... ^_^

Hey all the bestest!

Wish I had TV at home :d

Good luck, Jessica! Did the Feminists for Colbert ever send you the Full Frontal Feminism t-shirt they designed? I think that'd be a nifty thing to wear...

jealous.

you'll rock. good luck.

A real inside-joke tension-braker would be to quote Phil Ken Sebben, the cartoon managing law partner on Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law (he was voiced by Colbert for the first two seasons):

"Ha HA! (sotto voce) Dangly parts!"

Good luck!

I would expect him to throw you some outrageous essentialist parody comment that is effectively a good softball. Try to have two or three multi-purpose responses up your sleeve.

Building of norbizness's suggestion, if he asks "What could be more important than (blank)?!?" Answer "Ssssssscience?". That one's a throwback to another character he voiced, Professor Impossible, on the Venture Brothers. Taking my dork hat off now...

I'll totally be thinking of you between 6 and 7 and sending lots of good vibes your way! And I'll probably be watching with my family tonight too, you'll do great!

Good luck Jessica!

kick some ass, jessica!!! you'll be awesome!

kick some ass, jessica!!! you'll be awesome!

good luck, jessica! i will definitely tune in, especially for some feminist truthiness. ;)

ahhh!!! I am ridiculously excited! I just wrote "10:30 Colbert" all over my hand and anything that was just lying around the house. (I can't forget!) You will be great! Can't wait. Have fun ;)

p.s. I started your book yesterday and, guarunteed, I'll be done by today. I'm lovin' it! Great work.

WOW! Good for you and good luck!

I'll stay up late tonight just for you!! I"m sure you'll do great.

good vibes--->Jessica

I'll be sitting in front of the television feministing as hard as a I can into the atmosphere. Hope you have a great time.

Great show, Jessica! You really held your own, and I think that you'll see more sales of your book. Of course, I already bought it, so I can't help with that. :) Best, j

Just saw Jessica on Colbert, and I'm in love! (what's an appropriate way to hit on a feminist? I've always wondered...)

We definitely need more mainstream media exposure for self-proclaimed feminists who are charming and good-humored.

I just watched the clip of the show and I thought you did a great job Jessica! The t-shirt you gave him was a nice touch.

...and you WERE fine! A really nice mix of giving and taking, not rising to the bait when he put it out there. And joining in the laughter: Appearing humorless on Colbert is the #1 no-no, and you avoided it, beautifully. You seemed to be having a good time, and it showed.

It's a tough gig; I think the temptation--and Jessica, you could confirm this--is to actually engage seriously. But that almost never works, so you have to drop in little disguised bits of real information, which you did, fairly subtly (like the mention of the recent SC decision).

Well played...

Saw the show last night, and you did very well. Thought you kept up with Colbert nicely, a tough act to follow. Kudos!
