Just because.

I'm running around like a mad person, so I'm sorry for the slow posting today. But I figure Dolly always makes everything okay.

Thanks so much for posting this. I've had a terrible day involving a broken laptop charger and no money, and this made me feel just a bit better. I love you ladies!

i effing love dolly parton. i saw her a couple years ago (at a casino, btw) and she toned down the "wig beating" prologue to this excellent song; she just said something about only ever loving one man and that this was the song about the woman who tried to take him away from her one time.
love love love dolly.

wow -she does seem cooler, funnier, and down-to-earth than I always envisioned her to be, what with the blonde, boob-job stereotype and all...

I guess it's awesome b/c she doesn't express much hate for this woman, totally runs against the grain of the way women are "supposed" to interact with their competition/each other in this patriarchal culture. Did other people get this out of it as well?

Dolly is amazing! Her feminist credentials are often overlooked in favour of her style, but check out songs like 'Just Because I'm a Woman' and 'An Eagle When She Flies' for strong, uplifting lyrics and gorgeousness.
