WaPo addresses "catfights"
Ok, so it's not an apology, but it's something:
We heard a number of complaints last week because we used the word "catfight" to describe a disagreement between two distinguished members of Congress -- Pelosi and Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.). To those who civilly articulated reasons why the term is inappropriate, we say: Point taken.

That's better than expected. Have you seen what passes for apologies and corrections in most papers?

Isn't it cute that they snuck in a little scolding for the angry people who were un-ladylike in their response? gahhhh.... At least they acknowledged the feedback.
21st:
I think it's entirely appropriate that they stuck in a scolding for those that were uncivil in their responses. Ladylike doesn't enter into it.
Civility is highly underrated, nowadays. It's possible to denounce something strongly without abandoning it, and if you have to abandon it, maybe it's time to take a break from writing for a bit first.
I do wish that they would have reprinted some of the better of those reasons and made a more heartfelt acknowledgement, but as FAA noted, this is about as much as one could honestly expect.
Give props to the uncivilized people too, you craven-ass Post motherfuckers!
(takes long break from writing)
There is nothing civil about referring to a difference of opinion between two public office-holders as a cat fight.
