my girlfriend and i were driving around town this week when I was visiting her (she lives in small-town Louisiana) and we saw posted signs in front of Wal-Mart advertising a local Baptist Church Princess/Purity Ball... so we came back later that night and, um, "relocated" them into a trash can. It was a bit of a guerilla tactic, but the whole idea of these "balls" makes both of us so angry... and maybe, just maybe, we saved one more 5-year-old girl from pledging her virginity to her father? ugh.

i can't help thinking that the response to this thing would be so different if, say, boys were pledging their virginities to their mothers.

That stuff is really creepy.
