I am speechless. I was laughing and then I realized it was possible for one anti-sex nutcase to affect an entire state. "The anus is not considered a sexual organ"?!? and yet there is legislature that makes it off limits to real sex organs? And this is the brightest gem: "Mouth to anus with a chicken" I'm guessing the man who sqwaked (pun totally intended) so loudly about this tried to push the bill so that the law would enforce him to behave.
The whole "education" cover was too funny. As was the bag that she put it in, did anyone else notice that it's got a giant penis on the side? Ha!
I have to laugh to keep from crying.
don't mess with texas!
Molly Ivins rocks my world!
Only in an educational context, of course!
Is the "d-word" that's forbidden in Texas "democracy"? Maybe that's why El Presidente frowns on it so much.
This post has made my day. I am from Texas, and when I tell people from other states that dildos are illegal in Texas they don't believe me.
This clip is from the documentary, Dildo Diaries. It's been out for a few years, is out on DVD and is a fantasitc film. Go see it.

I love Molly Ivins.
We do love our jokes in Texas (I am particularly fond of Ivins) but that has got to be the longest (over 10 full minutes!!) fucking set up I've ever heard!!
P.S. That shop is really cool. Check it out if you're in Austin, it's worth the trip.
Molly Ivans is undeniably brilliant. She might also be the last sane voice in Texas the land of GW. It is hard to imagine the mind set that criminalizes almost all sex acts as well as sex toys, but murders more prisoners in any year than all other states combined.
The Nation moves forward... except for Texas. Warren Chisum (in 1993), representing a district of 113 thousand (whom he did not ask) bullies regressive legislation through for the other 20.9 million Texans, who are stuck with it. Un-real.
I miss her already. Glad I came across this in the archives. I fear a CIA operation into this - just like they did in Operation Pipe Dreams that rounded up bong retailers.
Keep your laws off my lube!
