Women's activists in Iran charged.

In light of the June 12 women's rights protests in Iran where women were beaten and arrested by police, the Iranian government has charged two of the lead activists, Noushin Ahmadi Khorasani and Parvin Ardalan, with "acting against national security." Uh, I thought the government with its little nuclear crisis (and the US is not innocent in this fiasco) is doing that just fine on its own.

Anyway.

nice to know we're not the only ones who destroy our national security by pissing off every other nation in the world at the same time as forfeiting civil liberties in the name of "national security"...

i wonder if there's a way to support these folks... and Ardalan's organization. i know we've got legal defense funds here for political prisoners... is there anything like that in iran?

anyone?
