Keep your hands off my sex toys

The Drinking Liberally Memphis chapter held a Keep Your Hands Off My Dildo party this past weekend in response to legislation proposed in Tennessee that would ban sex toys.

The legislation, which is almost identical to bans in other states, would have made it a criminal act to “knowingly sell, advertise, publish, or exhibit to another person any three-dimensional device designed or marketed to be used primarily for the stimulation of human genitalia.

Luckily the Tennessee bill died in committee, but that didn’t stop the Drinking Liberally folks from raising awareness around the anti-sex legislation by throwing a party and selling some sex toys. Great stuff.

I don't get these bans. We have a ban in Texas, so they are called educational devices - but carrying handguns is legal. I don't understand what problem they cause. They are not omnipresent in public life. In states where they are legal, is everyone busting them out on the metro and having a release on the way home? If we banned handguns and made sex toys legal, wouldn't everyone be a little happier?

What if it's a vibrator shaped like a gun?

I think Jessica once put a link up to a site that sold those. It was pretty creepy.

I knew I'd seen it somewhere.

Was it really necessary to put the link up again. The jokes started running through my head, and then a mental image popped up. If I have nightmares tonight, it is going to be your fault deanna.

What possible interest can the state have in making them illegal?

As a Tennessee resident, I am thrilled to know that my state is so perfect that our legislators have reason to concern themselves with others' masturbatory devices.

I wonder if the sale of Viagra for those who are not heart patients has ever been up for debate?

Does this mean that they are going to come and take away my removable shower nozzle? Outlaw vibrating dryers?

I know - let's start covering piano legs again so boys don't touch themselves and go blind.

Vibrators operate within the bounds of time, so they are actually FOUR DIMENSIONAL!

Uh oh... you think they'll start outlawing cucumbers, zucchinis, carrots?!?!?!?

"Sorry ma'am, you're under arrest: we have reports you've cooked a stew with ILLEGAL VEGETABLES!"

Sheesh. Glad I live abroad.

I think this is a crazy idea I hope that they never pass a law like this on Tennessee. Great idea to throw a dildo party I am thinking about having one next week for the same cause.

What if it's a vibrator shaped like a gun, Sex toys are a great way to spice up your life.
