Report shows Afghan women face continued violence and discrimination
One for the duh-files, I know.
The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) has just released a report, “Evaluation report on General Situation of Women in Afghanistan.�
The AIHRC reports, among other things, that 38 percent of women were “wedded off against their will and consent" and that more than 50 percent have been victims of domestic violence.

I remember when the US first was invading Afghanistan, and Bush tooled around the, "we need to help the women" issue. At the moment, it was bemusing because of his policy regarding women in the US. Now we see for sure that he never really invested in it in the first place.
