Funding directory for women’s orgs requires too much…funding

Women’s eNews, in collaboration with Women and Philanthropy, just released a directory, “Leading 100 New Foundations Funding Women and Girls.”

The book has “100 in-depth profiles on the new foundation leaders in funding programs and projects that affect the lives of women and girls, including contact information, boards of directors, interest areas, geographic giving patterns, and grants paid.”

Great, right? Well, yes…if you happen to have $219 to spare.

Maybe it’s just me, but it seems counterintuitive to publish a book meant to help under-funded women’s organizations and programs just to then charge a ton of cash for it. This may not be a lot of money for the bigger national women’s orgs, but for a small or start-up organization the price is a little much.

In any case, if you’re interested you can see a sample of the directory here.

HOpefully public libraries will obtain copies of this book so that one can go through it for free.
