Join our team as a Feministing columnist

Applications to join the Feministing crew as a Columnist are now open, and I’m pleased to invite you today to apply by filling out this formApplications will be accepted through June 6.

Feministing is composed of a diverse collective of over a dozen contributors and a small team working on the organization, and led by a trio of co-Executive Directors. As you probably already know if you’re reading this, we cover a broad range of intersectional feminist issues–from campus sexual violence to transgender rights to reproductive justice. We serve as a gateway to the feminist movement for young people, giving our readers ways to take concrete action, as well as connecting them with feminist organizations and grassroots activists. As a columnist, you would be central to this effort. Though it’s not nearly enough, columnists receive a very modest quarterly stipend, reach a million readers per month, and become part of the community of current and former Feministing writers and editors who offer advice, mentorship, and help connect each other with other professional opportunities.

A note about diversity: for us, diversity is not just a box to check off — it is integral to our model for change. We know that young people are greatly influenced not just by the message but also by who the messenger is. Our team —  which is majority people of color and includes contributors who are diverse in terms of gender identity, sexual orientation, class background, and geography — is able to speak to the experiences of a wide range of readers, including those who’ve historically been marginalized within the feminist movement, helping us recruit new converts to the cause. In our search for new columnists,  we not only value diversity, but want to particularly encourage folks from marginalized identities to apply.

For over a decade, Feministing has been at the forefront of online feminist media, producing bold, uncompromising feminist analysis, fighting for concrete, real-world change, and building an engaged community of young feminists. Won’t you join us?
