Happy birthday, Vero!

Guess what? Today is our wonderful columnist Verónica Bayetti Flores’s birthday!

veroAs you can probably tell from her writing, Vero is an expert on immigration, reproductive justice (she’s on the board of the National Network of Abortion Funds), police violence, and support for LGBTQ youth of color. She’s also a world-class connoisseur of feminist music, which she shares with us all through this site’s “Feministing Jamz” column. My favorite playlist is still her picks for a Feministing party two years ago.

Personally, I know that I’ve learned so much from her unapologetic femme pride. I’ve loved her articles on the politics of self-presentation and on the importance of celebrating traditionally feminine art forme. She’s really pushed me to take care never to denigrate femininity in the quest to disrupt gender norms, and I’m grateful for that.

Send Vero some love on Twitter today!
