Save the date Giving Tuesday December 1

We need your help this #GivingTuesday!

As you’ve probably heard by now, today is #GivingTuesday, a day set aside during this season of commercialism to support causes that are important to you. We’re fundraising today so we can afford to pay our hard working crew the small year end stipends that aren’t nearly enough for all they do at Feministing. We need your help to raise those funds and set us up for a future where our whole team is better compensated for the work they do. Cause as our own Alexandra Brodsky says, “there’s nothing radical about uncompensated labor.”

Feministing’s been publishing for over a decade, and have remained completely independent during this time, resisting the pressure to tone down our message to appeal more to VC or advertising dollars. We’re still going strong, still raising consciousness and shifting feminist conversations on immigration, racist violence, transmisogyny, reproductive health care access, good sex, and more, still providing you ways to take action, and still hosting our Community platform to uplift the voices of our readers. And we’re still doing all of this on a shoestring budget, which means every donation goes a long way. Our goal for today’s fundraising is just $2000 – not a lot in comparison to some bigger orgs – but this money will do a lot for a small grassroots organization like ours. And while Feministing the publication has had impressive successes and plays with the capitalist big girls, that’s what we are – small, grassroots, and depending on your support.

Currently we’re about a quarter of the way to making our #GivingTuesday fundraising goal. We need your help to get all the way there so we can afford to keep on feministing. Every small donation makes a huge difference – please give what you can. Already donated? Thank you so much! And please ask your friends to join you in supporting media by and for young feminists. We can’t do this without you.
