Feministing Follow Friday: SAAM, Vol. I

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Of course, knowledge of the problem on its own does about zilch to stop violence — but the month provides advocates with the platform to turn to awareness into activism. Here are five doing just that:

  • Save Wįyąbi Project (@SaveWiyabi): As an advocacy group, the project aims to address violence against Indigenous women, as well as develop community based solutions in both tribal and urban areas
  • NSVRC (@NSVRC): National Sexual Violence Resource Center provides info on sexual violence
  • Victim Rights Law Center (@VictimRightsLaw): Providing free legal services to rape & sexual assault survivors in Massachusetts & Oregon. Training nationally. Leading a New Response to Sexual Violence.
  • Our Harvard Can Do Better (@OurHarvard): dismantle rape culture @harvard. better #TitleIX enforcement. Our Harvard Can Do Better.
  • PCAR (@PCARORG): The Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape works to eliminate all forms of sexual violence & advocate for the rights and needs of victims of sexual assault.

Alexandra Brodsky was a senior editor at Feministing.com.
