Welcome, Wagatwe!

Wagatwe WanjukiWe are thrilled to announce that the amazing Wagatwe Wanjuki has joined our Feministing team as a guest contributor.

Twe is a survivor, activist, and writer who first learned the power of new media to raise the voices of the most marginalized while campaigning to reform the sexual assault policy as a student at Tufts University. Since then, she’s used her experience to advocate for a world free of sexual violence and highlight challenges survivors face at the intersections of race, gender, and violence. 

She also has organized around various social issue campaigns, including asking corporations to end their membership with ALEC campaign at ColorOfChange, demanding an Oklahoma school to end its racist dress code policy, and educating students about their civil rights under Title IX through Know Your IX.

Twe blogs at F*@* Yeah Feminists, one of the first and most popular feminist blogs on Tumblr, and her writing has appeared on various outlets, including this site, PolicyMic, and ESSENCE magazine. She has appeared on The Daily Show and Katie. Currently based in New Jersey, she serves as the Online Community Manager at RH Reality Check and studies sociology at Rutgers University.

So basically: readers, get excited.

Alexandra Brodsky was a senior editor at Feministing.com. During her four years at the site, she wrote about gender violence, reproductive justice, and education equity and ran the site's book review column. She is now a Skadden Fellow at the National Women's Law Center and also serves as the Board Chair of Know Your IX, a national student-led movement to end gender violence, which she co-founded and previously co-directed. Alexandra has written for publications including the New York Times, the Atlantic, the Guardian, and the Nation, and she is the co-editor of The Feminist Utopia Project: 57 Visions of a Wildly Better Future. She has spoken about violence against women and reproductive justice at campuses across the country and on MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, FOX, ESPN, and NPR.
