    Looking at the cases cited in the gun-banning reference, it appears that almost all of the violence would be prevented if people accused of threatening others with firearms were arrested (on the aggravated assault charge) and access to firearms was removed as a condition of bail.

    At least, almost all of the cases where requiring the citizen to surrender their firearms outright would have done anything.
