Dear Romney, Ryan and the Republican Party

Dear Romney, Ryan and the Republican Party,

You forced us to choose between keeping a larger portion of our paycheck or keeping the right to our own reproductive health.  You made us choose between fiscal reform or denying the civil liberties of others in order to adhere to your religious agenda. You made us choose between spending cuts or supporting men who show blatant disregard for victims of rape. You made us choose. And we chose. We don’t want your hands in our health care or family decisions, we don’t need your opinion on whether our rape was legitimate enough. We don’t need your disgustingly false presumptions that God created women with a magical secretion that kills sperm if we are terrified enough during a rape. We don’t need your opinion on whether our reasons for using birth control are good enough. We don’t need you to dictate our religious values. We don’t need your homophobia. We don’t you to tell us what God wants. We don’t need you to incorporate your religious ideologies into public policy that affects your constituents of all religious and spiritual beliefs. I hope your failure compels you to take a long look in the mirror.  Although we may believe in your aspirations for a better America financially, you blew it with your extremism. You lost the election because you insist on forcing your personal religious beliefs onto an America that does not want to be governed by them. A word of advice, keep your politics political, not personal.

Sincerely,

American Women
