Women and the Presidential Election

With all of the ad’s I’ve seen on Facebook and YouTube that are clearly from the Romney campaign, I’m beginning to get a little worried about the upcoming election. In a few days, the world we live in as women could be drastically different. Let’s hope not! I decided to respond to all of this Romney nonsense with a video diary, as published on Yahoo! News and YouTube.

As women and feminists, we absolutely cannot allow Romney to enter the white house. His sexist religion and conservative mindset will be the driving force of all of his decisions if he becomes President of the United States. And frankly, he’d probably only make the economy worse. Obama is the ONLY candidate we have right now that will allow us a choice, and whether you like him or not, as a woman you must realize that Romney isn’t any better for you.

I urge you now: do not be cynical, do not think that your vote will make no difference. Things are not perfect for women right now, and there is a great deal of room for political improvement as far as the feminist movement is concerned, but we can’t allow ourselves to take more steps backward. Even if you think Obama will do nothing for us, be aware that Romney would like to take away most of the things that were already done. He’d probably be happy to take away our right to vote if he could. That, my feministing friends, would be devastating to us.
