I wanted to tell you that your post ‘Vote for me’ really struck a chord with me. I can relate to the unconscious habit of putting myself down and constantly apologizing for being good at something. Hi. I’m new here. I have a fairly big mouth and I post a lot of comments on NYTimes.com and LATimes.com. Is this a good place to post writings like that?
As for this week, I was elated to see of the growth and success over at “Dogs Against Romney” on Zuckerberg’s folly. I believe that Dogs Against Romney can turn a close election if the project continues to gain traction. The conceit is that because Romney did a very bad thing to a dog, he is not fit to lead. (I buy that, and would love to discuss it elsewhere.) They’ve coined the slogan “Don’t Roof-Rack Me,” which is brilliant, because Romney’s shortcomings seem to boil down to creepiness and lack of empathy, and are on display in his plans to Roof-Rack Medicare, Roof-Rack Our Jobs, Roof-Rack “Consumers” (while Captains of Industry ride in the car alongside their cash-stuffed suitcases.)
The fanastic thing is that it will get even apolitical animal-lovers out to the polls to vote against Romney, even if it doesn’t change the vote of a single Republican.
We are a nation of dog lovers–most of our households care for at least one dog–and we will not let this matter rest!
Look, I love dogs as much as the next feminist, but this whole “DogGate” is not a reason to not vote for Mitt Romney. His platform is. Let’s let go of the damn dog thing. It makes those of us who are opposed to Mitt Romney look silly and uneducated about the issues.
I dunno, I’ll happily toss it on the heap with my countless other reasons not to vote for Mitt Romney!
Seriously though, little anecdotes such as this one or his blase indifference when his history of school bullying were brought up are little glimmers of the lack of empathy he seems to have, which I feel is in keeping with his platform and other actions.

Reading Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez’s “Dirty Girls on Top”. About five Latina-identifying women who knew each other in college, have lives and problems, and told entirely through their perspectives. Each character feels like she could be a real person (And in that, they aren’t all nice people — they judge each other, complain about each other, make excuses for doing really stupid shit, but still seem to care about each other) Might be considered a good feminist read just for how realistically all five women are written and portrayed.
Jason Biggs, makes misogynist tweets about Paul Ryan’s wife last Wednesday. He also makes anti-Christian comments aswell. Nickelodeon, which promotes his twitter feed on their website is being pressured to fire or reprimand him.
