Sexist blogging forces Senator Kristen Gillibrand’s challenger out of race

The 2012 election season is now in full swing, and not just for the Presidential race.

New York Democratic Senator Kristen Gillibrand was facing a challenge from Marc Cenedella, a Republican and founder of Ladders.com. He just pulled out of the race, according to New York Magazine:

Cenedella’s pulling out in the wake of an Times article that exposed entries on his blog which, among other things, advocated for a national steak and blow job day and considered the difference between sexy and skanky.

I’m glad to know that kind of sexist vitriol has such a significant impact on his candidacy. Sadly, the same standards don’t seem to apply to the Presidential GOP primary.
