WOW. Lowe’s and tons of other companies have apparently pulled advertising from the reality show All-American Muslim after caving in to a blatantly bigoted campaign.

The Florida Family Association is apparently based in Tampa, where I live. It is also a non-profit. I have some questions.
- Are hate groups are allowed to have tax exempt status?
- If yes, why? (I’m assuming it would be something relating to freedom of speech that protects hate speech if it is.)
- If no, what is the line drawn for a hate group? Because the FFA is explicitly Islamophobic and Homophobic. I think by definition, that’s a hate group.
If they do any good, does that automatically make the hate part okay? Is the KKK a 501c3? If neo-nazi groups donated canned goods to a few shelters, would they be recognized as legitimate organizations? I know there are other organizations like this and this isn’t anything new… but somehow I just realized that a lot of organizations spread hateful messages and they are tax exempt “charitable” organizations.
Is there any reason why I shouldn’t refer to groups like these as hate groups? Some nuance that would de-legitimize the term “hate group”? Because I’m tired of being “politically correct” and tolerating hate speech.
