The good wife: Anne Sinclair is leaving DSK

Anne Sinclair, the wife of Dominique Strauss-Kahn, is reportedly leaving him. The final straw for her seems to have been DSK’s alleged involvement in a prostitution network now under criminal investigation.

Sinclair, a former top TV current affairs presenter and multi-millionaire heiress to an art empire has been relatively quiet, if implicitly supportive of her husband since he was charged with allegations of sexual assault against Nafissatou Diallo, a woman a hotel worker at the Sofitel in New York.

From the Telegraph:

Friends of the couple told Le Figaro Anne has had it with his “pathetic” behavior and is looking into  or separation, as well as demanding that he pay back the hundreds of thousands of dollars she spent to defend him against the charges leveled at him.

Now, as much coverage as there has been of DSK, the spouses of men who are thusly accused are often find themselves in a “dammed if you do, dammed if you don’t” scenario. Stand by your man and you’re a good wife with no clear convictions of your own. Leave him, and you’re a selfish person who leaves their husband when he’s down. There’s really no winning here. And given the rousing support DSK has gotten in France since he was charged here in the US, I can just imagine what awaits Ms. Sinclair.

“Damned if you do…”? Really? I don’t think there should be any social shaming directed towards her for this decision. Who in their right mind would still feel loyal towards such a man?

    I say good on her.

    Good for her.

Might want to edit that line :P

    Thirding the “good for her”.

For living in France at the moment I can assure that DSK is looked at with disgust. I don’t know where the Huffington Post found its information. But for following the Leftist press, I can assure you that the Socialists are sickened by what they discover.
Every day some new revelations show this man in the most pathetic way. Now, all that remains to be done is to find out how similar are the other politicians in the French arena.

Claire, it’s not limited to France. Many male politicians behave in abhorrent ways towards women.

I was about to post something similar. I was just in France visiting my family, and granted it’s anecdata, but I do *not* have the impression that DSK is receiving “rousing support” from a large proportion of the population.

Claire, Americans were given the impression that there was widespread support for Roman Polanski in France too when, in fact, polls showed that the vast majority of French people found him disgusting. The press here never misses an opportunity to paint the French as snotty, elitist, and morally deviant.
