Girls just want… Well, a number of things, actually

I would never wish flight delays on anyone, except perhaps on people stuck at departure gates in the company of pop icons who don’t mind singing live and unaccompanied over the airport intercom. Which is exactly what Cyndi Lauper did a few days ago at an airport in Buenos Aires.

Girls DO just want to have fun. They also want their planes to take off on time. And they want access to affordable reproductive healthcare. And equal pay for equal work. And a cultural vision of female beauty that includes more than .005% of the population. And a model of masculinity that is more complex than “no sissy stuff.” Ok, so girls – ahem, women – want a lot of things besides to just have fun. But still, if Cyndi Lauper offers you a free live sing-along show, you don’t say no to that.
