New resource on ending violence against girls

I wanted to share a new online resource from the Chicago Taskforce on Violence Against Girls & Young Women.  You can find our new online report, a roadmap to ending violence agains girls & young women, at www.chitaskforce.org.

The website looks at 5 forms of violence against girls and young women.  We believe these issues are complex, interrelated, and inherently tied to multiple forms of oppression that girls experience:

For each of these, the website offers concrete data about violence against girls in Chicago and nationally, and identified issues & needs in the field.  For each section you can also read about organizations that are doing innovative work.

A highlight of the website is a set of recommendations for Chicago, Cook County, and the State of Illinois, as well as for organizations, foundations and researchers.  These recommendations have been endorsed by 40 organizations, representing youth groups, domestic violence and sexual assault groups, city and statewide agencies, policy organizations, and more.  They will serve as the basis for our work in the coming year, as we advocate to make Chicago safer for girls and young women.

Finally, the website offers tools & resources that groups can use in their own work.  Our resource page includes data sheets, reports and curricula, all free for downloading.  And our Occasional Papers series offers evaluations of innovative programs, and evaluation tools that organizations can access.

We welcome you to visit the site, and let us know what you think!
