Definition of Wife: “Washing, Ironing, F***ing, Etc.”

So I was just looking for Feminist groups on Facebook tonight (after just joining Abolish Abstinence-Only Sex Education–thanks for the mention in The Purity Myth, Jessica).  One group that caught my eye was War Against Feminists.  Of course, I’m naturally curious… so I looked.

Whether these guys (actually, most of the members, around 100, are girls) are being serious or not, I thought it was kind of ridiculous.  There are many comments (including the “definition” of wife that I used for the title here) about women being “objects” and “bitch stop you’re bitchin’ and get back in the kitchen!”  Seriously?  One girl even said that feminists “need to shut the fuck up.”  Lovely.

And there was a comment about joining another group, the Meminists (original, right?).  So I went to the Meminist page and was looking at more women should be beat/why is she out the kitchen/why don’t women need to wear watches jokes when I noticed this comment.  I’m not even going to edit this dude’s terrible grammar and spelling.  I thought you might get a kick out of it too.

“end of the day, girls talk about the pain of birth like its the worse thing ever. i mean, iv had a few big turds. wernt too bad. and they hav like multiple orgasms nd stuff, that aint fair realy. nd they dnt know the pain of being kicked in the balls, or the annoience of inchy ones. and, havin sumin dangling between ur legs is a liability lets be honest, hardly a face place XD”

I’m one of those people that correct people’s grammar as they speak, and reading this guy’s gibberish gave me a headache.  Seriously dude, take an English class and think about what you say (because it’s crap, basically) before you say it.  Oh, and I’d say I have bigger balls than you.

Anyway, I just thought it strange that people would start a group against feminists like we are terribly awful people.  And sure, maybe some of these people just think they are being funny, but it really just seems stupid to me.  I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I’m all for that, but sometimes I just wonder how certain people can think they way they do and particular issues don’t even phase them.  Heck, when I told a friend of mine (a girl) I was taking part in a production of The Vagina Monologues she said, “Not everything has to be a protest.”  A lot of people I know just say things are fine the way they are and feel like nothing will change anyway, so why even speak about it?  Why raise awareness?  “Nothing’s going to change.”  Anyone else see the irony there?

Okay, I’m done with rant :)
