NY Green Party Ballot Line

Hey, pissed off NY State progressives who are considering staying home, how about considering helping the Green Party get back its ballot line instead?  If the Green Party gets 50,000 votes for their candidate for governor, it gets back its ballot line.  This will massively cut down the amount of petitioning that Green candidates will have to do next election in order to run in elections in New York.  This would save months of petitioning, which takes up time that could otherwise be used campaigning, and help Green candidates run for more offices.   It would help lay the foundation for a real progressive alternative for New York voters.

This election’s Green Party candidate for governor is Howie Hawkins, a long time progressive advocate from Syracuse.  He is a staunch progressive candidate who supports a woman’s right to choose, equal rights for LGBT people, a progressive tax system, full employment, free public education, affordable housing, and a ban on hydrofracking.  His website is available here.

So, if you are have become jaded from voting for the democrats and seeing the same lack of action again and again (and seeing Cuomo parrot the republicans by calling for tax cuts and for taking money from medicaid and education), that you were just going to stay home,  you could try using your vote to attempt to build something different; a real third party alternative for New York.

(Full disclosure, due to my medical issues, Medicaid complications, and moving back home during breaks from college, I am still registered to vote in PA, but if I were registered in NY, I would be voting for Howie)
