The media loves itself some transphobia. Yesterday, Courtney linked to a piece about a supposed gay couple in Malawi that was sentenced to prison time because of their, “unnatural acts and gross indecency.” Well turns out Tiwonge Chimbalanga identifies as a woman, a fact that both the courts and the media failed to note.
Via Questioning Transphobia, I also found a video of protests in Cape Town created by Gender DynamIX, a South African trans group, protests to the decision in Malawi.

I can’t STAND when this happens. The general public needs to be more aware and educated about trans issues/what it means to be trans.
