Erykah Badu receives disorderly conduct citation for nudity during video shoot

Erykah Badu will receive a citation for disorderly conduct for the nudity during her recent shoot for the Window Seat video from the Dallas police.
I think these types of citations are pretty absurd, but this is what I find troubling:

Initially, police said they had no complaints about the taping of the video, and had no plans to pursue any charges. But after the video went viral Monday, the subsequent brouhaha made national headlines and became the subject of talk radio and the blogosphere.

Why should media hype and the blogosphere make the police change their minds?
Erykah defended the video this weekend on the Wanda Sykes show, and responded to the controversy by publishing a version of the video on her site, called Window Seat (Reexamined), with the video footage in reverse. You can see it here.
