Victim Blaming At Its Best

I have previously blogged about comments I received on a vlog of mine about women being unfairly blamed for unplanned pregnancy and rape. I have since disabled the comments on that video but that hasn’t stopped some people from messaging me about it. I’m not going to respond to this guy either but I’m getting it off my chest.
“Blame? It’s not about blame, it’s about personal responsibility. Play with matches and get burned, you don’t sue the manufacturer. Rape not a woman’s fault? Certainly it can be. “
There is no comparison to playing with matches to being raped. “I was walking down the street and I was raped. I guess I should have just stayed home,” or “I was out with my guy friend and he raped me. I should never be in the presence of a male so I don’t get raped.” This is the kind of thing you are saying rape victims should be thinking.

“Rich people know not to go into the ‘hood wearing a suit made of $100 dollar bills.”
Not only does this guy think low of women and men. He thinks low of poor people. So poor people can’t resist robbery?
“Use your head. Life is not as black and white as you’re being told. Think things out for yourself.”
I’m the one using my head. You’re living in the world the media wants you to. A world where self-control doesn’t exist. A poor person can’t resist robbing people; a man can’t resist raping whenever they see her walking around in revealing clothing. I live in the real world where people have control over their actions where the majority of rapes are committed by someone the victim knows.
“If you’re a passenger in a car, you have no say once the car is moving and neither do men have choice once you are pregnant.”
More comparisons that make no sense.
“Why should they have a responsibility in something they had no choice in, (post conception choice.”
So I guess you support women deciding whether or not their boyfriends/husbands should have vasectomies? I don’t think so because you seem to live in a world where women are pretty low. Not to mention men can escape responsibility for unwanted children, it’s called signing away your parental rights.
“Husband rapes wife? Who the hell decides that in a court room? Look up William Heatherington case. No man should ever go to prison SCRICTLY on a woman’s word. EVER!”
It’s completely obvious that in this guy’s world neither men nor women can ever refuse sex. As it can be seen here, once a marriage has taken place a women can never refuse to have sex with her husband as it can be safely assumed she has consented to sex with him previously. Once you consent to sex once, you are open for business and can never reject anyone. But then again I doubt he would change his tune for rape victims who were virgins. I guess I can’t call this guy a sexist since he obviously thinks low of men too. But I can still call him classist for thinking low of the poor.
Writing this has made me feel better as by dissecting it I can see how ridiculous his argument actually is. He uses comparisons that make no sense and then puts words in my mouth as can be seen in his last sentence. I never said a man should be convicted solely on a women’s word. I’m very aware some people make false charges and I hate it as it makes real victims taken less seriously.
