A little frivolity, but YAY! I don’t really know how popular N-Sync is anymore, but more gay role models in the media and the happier we all are.
Lance Bass, band member of ‘N Sync, says he’s gay and in a “very stable” relationship with a reality show star. Bass, who formed ‘N Sync with Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick, tells People magazine that he didn’t earlier disclose his sexuality because he didn’t want to affect the group’s popularity.
“I knew that I was in this popular band and I had four other guys’ careers in my hand, and I knew that if I ever acted on it or even said (that I was gay), it would overpower everything,” he tells the magazine.
Silly boy, they have a HUGE gay male fan base. It would have been a PR gold mine. He does look happy though, don’t he.

Correct me if I am wrong, but ‘N Sync’s primary fan base when they were big was pre-teen and teenage girls. Part of the job, then, was to be sexy in a non-threatening manner to these girls. He probably, then, made a good business decision to stay in the closet at that time as controversy was definitely not part of ‘N Sync’s recipe for success. Unfortunate, but true.
Noname, you’re right.
My sister was a huge N’Sync fan (althought Justin Timberlake was her hunk o’ choice), and I had the great pleasure (mu ha ha) of breaking the news to her. I’d be rather surprised if homosexuals made up a signifigant portion of their fan base like they do for other pop acts (such as Madonna…Tori Amos…etc)
My reaction to this news: So the the other 4 aren’t gay? *laugh*
Darren Hayes (ex-Savage Garden) came out in style too – he made an announcement on his website about his marriage to his partner of 2 years Richard Cullen. aww.
noname, a good business decision made when he was 16 and fresh out of Mississippi? also, if you’ve seen early pictures of him, you’re not exactly thinking sexy.
